“[t]he men and women who will testify before the Intelligence Committee over the coming weeks will be attacked for being political hacks when in reality they look a lot like most of the permanent government: well-qualified, dedicated public servants who swore allegiance to the Constitution and not to a president." Democrats are Pushing Back!
The FCC's reckless repeal of net neutrality has sparked an unprecedented backlash. Millions of Americans have contacted their lawmakers in protest.
The Democratic leadership in Congress has introduced the Save the Internet Act of 2019-- considered our best chance to restore net neutrality protections that keep ISPs from throttling traffic, blocking content, and imposing unfair fees.

Obama to Republicans Disavowing Trump:
WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG?
WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG?
America First...or Trump First?
“Today’s press conference in Helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory. The damage inflicted by President Trump’s naiveté, egotism, false equivalence, and sympathy for autocrats is difficult to calculate… “
“It is tempting to describe the press conference as a pathetic rout – as an illustration of the perils of under-preparation and inexperience. But these were not the errant tweets of a novice politician. These were the deliberate choices of a president who seems determined to realize his delusions of a warm relationship with Putin’s regime without any regard for the true nature of his rule, his violent disregard for the sovereignty of his neighbors, his complicity in the slaughter of the Syrian people, his violation of international treaties, and his assault on democratic institutions throughout the world… “
“No prior president has ever abased himself more abjectly before a tyrant. Not only did President Trump fail to speak the truth about an adversary; but speaking for America to the world, our president failed to defend all that makes us who we are—a republic of free people dedicated to the cause of liberty at home and abroad. American presidents must be the champions of that cause if it is to succeed.”

Leading the way...
We. Are. Democrats.
Being a Democrat is about community. It’s about having your neighbor’s back, and knowing they’ll have yours. It’s about banding together to do what’s right, even when that seems impossible. It’s about knowing that when you feel the most alone, you’re not.

Republicans Presiding over a Growing Budget Deficit
yet proposing tax cuts.
The United States has recorded its largest annual budget deficit in four years yet Republican lawmakers are proposing a $1.5 trillion tax cut.
The New York Times reports that the president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, Maya MacGuineas, said that it is remarkable how Republicans had given up caring about deficits now that they have the power to curb government spending.“The contrast between the growing deficit...with the blatant disregard for policies that are going to increase the debt is stunning and definitely bodes poorly for the economy,” she said

U.S. Image Suffers as the World Questions Trump’s Leadership
President Trump has been in office only a few months, but his presidency has had a major impact on how the world sees the United States. Trump and many of his key policies are broadly unpopular around the globe, and ratings for the U.S. have declined steeply in many nations.
According to a new Pew Research Center survey spanning 37 nations, a median of just 22% has confidence in Trump to do the right thing when it comes to international affairs. This stands in contrast to the final years of Barack Obama’s presidency, when a median of 64% expressed confidence in Trump’s predecessor to direct America’s role in the world. Across the 37 nations polled, Trump gets higher marks than Obama in only two countries: Russia and Israel.
United States Climate Alliance
Washington Gov. Jay Inslee joins New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and California Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. to form the United States Climate Alliance to convene U.S. states committed to achieving the U.S. goal of reducing emissions by 26-28 percent over 2005 levels and meeting or exceeding the targets of the federal Clean Power Plan.
Governor Inslee announced on June 5th that 10 new members have joined the coalition in less than a week: Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oregon, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia , which is committed to upholding the Paris Accord and taking aggressive action on climate change.

Since 1945, the supreme strategic goal in Europe of the USSR, and then Russia, was the severing of the US-German alliance. Trump delivered.
"As a result of this trip, American influence, always exercised in Europe through mutually beneficial trade and military alliances, is at its rockiest in recent memory. The American-German relationship, the core of the transatlantic alliance for more than 70 years, has just hit a new low: On Sunday, the German chancellor told a sympathetic crowd that Germany could no longer depend on America, given what she had “experienced in the last few days.” The Russian government, which has long sought to expel the United States from the continent, is overjoyed: On Russian television, Trump was said to have turned NATO into a 'house of cards.'"

Due to actions by the new federal administration to de-fund environmental protections, it is more important than ever for state leaders to adopt a new two-year budget that includes environmental and public health programs.
