A Precinct Committee Officer (PCO) is the liaison between the residents of a given precinct and the local Democratic party.  The PCO brings the concerns of the voters to the party organization and, conversely, the PCO provides a link between the party and the voter, disseminating information and providing assistance where needed. PCOs are the building block of the Democratic Party!

What does a PCO do?

Stay informed. PCOs care about good governance; they follow current political issues in Clallam County and at the state and national levels of government, including the current Democratic Party platforms of all levels of the Party;

Contribute your voice and perspective.  PCOs attend Clallam County Democrats (CCD) membership meetings and actively participate in local party decisionmaking. This may include decisions around local party governance, endorsing candidates, and establishing CCD priorities; 

Assist with voter identification.  Using a list of registered voters, PCOs help to identify (by visit, phone, mail and/or electronic communication) those voters in their precinct who are likely to support Democratic candidates, programs and propositions;. 

Contribute time and talent.  PCOs participate in local party efforts in support of Democratic candidates and progressive issues as time and circumstances permit.

Get out the vote.  PCOs are asked to help with get out the Democratic vote (GOTV).  This may include making phone calls, distributing Democratic campaign materials, canvassing or doorbelling your precinct, when possible.

Participate in voter registration efforts.  PCOs promote voter registration and assist with vote registration initiatives when time and circumstances permit.
